Compact in size with black and white maps instead of the colour ones of its bigger, more expensive siblings, the Edge 130 was given five stars by our reviewers and is popular and super affordable – even more so now that REI has taken 25% off.

Elite Direto XR: was $1,000, now $599.93 at REI

This smart turbo might lack some of the refined qualities of its more expensive sister trainers but we found it still a great value-for-money package when we reviewed it last year. We found it responsive and it's power readings reliable.

Garmin Forerunner 245 Music: was $349.99, now $184.00 at AmazonArguably the Edge 530 of Garmin's GPS watch range, it provides the heart rate and GPS tracking you need for an effective workout across a huge range of sports – as well as storing music and other smartwatch functions. The performance versus price ratio is particularly good with this model.

4iiii Precision 2.0 - 105: was $274.99 now $227.49 at Pro Bike Kit USA

One of the cheapest and easiest ways to start riding with power readings, the 4iiii's offering is an excellent value for money option. 4iiii is now on the third iteration of it's crank-based power meters, and as such, the 2nd version is on a great discount. When we tested the 2.0 version we found it to be reliably accurate and robust, and so would highly recommend sticking with this model given how much cheaper it is compared to the latest model right now.

Garmin Fenix 6 Pro: was $599.99 now $401.70 at AmazonPacked with features, the Fenix 6 does everything you might want. Beyond just tracking your rides and runs (along with many other sports) it comes preloaded with TOPO maps to help guide you on your way. To drill into the details, you can read our review here.

Fitbit Sense Advanced Smartwatch: was $299.95, now $129.95 at Best BuyThis Fitbit Sense has the ability to track all the usual fitness metrics, but also the capabilities to deep dive in to health data such as stress responses, monitor heart rhythm, and helping you stay alert if you fall out of set parameters. With on board GPS, Bluetooth for hands-free calls and built in Google Assist or Amazon Alexa, this could be the idea cross over fitness/ life organising watch.

Garmin Edge 1030 Plus: now $599.99, now $399.99 at Amazon

We really rated the Garmin Edge 1030 when we reviewed it, finding it's features and functions very user friendly. It's one of the largest Garmin bike computers, but this does make maps and other data metrics, such as power, easy to read. It gains all of Garmin's nifty virtual coaching features, and is more off road friendly thanks to a specific mode setting. This discount is a fair one, but be aware that the brand has also just bought out it's latest flagship model the Garmin Edge 1040, making this no longer the range topper, meaning that discounted units are more likely in a few shops, so check the quick links above before you buy.

Fitbit Versa 2 Health and Fitness Smartwatch: was $149.95, now $106.49 at AmazonThe onboard GPS makes this more advanced than a regular fitness tracker, with real-time pace and distance visible. Keep on top of your health goals with the heart rate monitor and the ability to receive a daily readiness score, to make sure you fully rested. Google Assist or Amazon Alexa built in and 6 months Fitbit Premium trial to boot.

Garmin Instinct: was $249.99, now $169.04 at AmazonThe Garmin Instinct is the brand's most rugged GNSS watch, designed and constructed up to US Military standard for thermal, shock and water resistance (up to 100meters) making this a great all rounder for anyone who's pretty tough on their equipment. Multi-satellite receiving should give you better pin point accuracy on tracking, ideal for dense forest or urban canyons. Tracks all the usual fitness data and comes with an extra long battery life of up to 14 days between charges.

Saris H3: was $1,099.99 now $731.78 at Amazon

It might not have quite all the fancy extra features as the top end Wahoo and Tacx models do. But if gravel simulation and compatibility with a front riser unit are just gimmicks you don't need – then why pay more? Wahoo Kickr Snap turbo trainer: was $499.99, now $399.99 at Competitive Cyclist

The advent of direct drive indoor trainers means that there are plenty of deals to be had on wheel-on trainers, just like this Kickr Snap from Wahoo. For those with less space the folding design makes it an ideal choice, while still offering the smart technology associated with direct drive trainers. Beats Studio Buds: was $149.95, now $99.95 at Amazon

If bone conduction isn't for you and noise cancelling is a higher priority – Beats' Studio Buds are a great option for hard workouts. Lightweight and unobtrusive, they're super comfortable – and with an IPX4 rating, they're sweat resistant too.

Exposure Diablo MK12 Front Light: was $271.00, now $229.20 at Walmart

We're massive fans of Exposure lights here at Cycling Weekly. They may be expensive, but the build quality and longevity is unrivalled. Pretty much every model we've tested has made it straight into our best bike light buyer's guide – this particular model has been reviewed by our sister site MBR as a helmet mount option. But at 1,800 lumens, it also makes a compact handlebar mounted option for road riding and commuting.

The ability to track your training load makes it much easier to ensure you’re doing the right amount – not too little and not too much.

If you're shopping for heart rate monitors on a budget, LifeLine's offering is a solid option. This product is lightweight and compatible with bluetooth and ANT+, meaning you can easily keep track of your data from all of your devices. Buy now and get 61% off.

Tacx Neo Bike Smart: was $3,199.99 now $2,549.95 at Competitive CyclistTacx has recently released an updated model – the Tacx Neo Bike Plus – which means that the original Bike Smart is now available at some pretty handy discounts. Sure, if you want crank lengths that are adjustable below 170mm, some redesigned shifters and a slimmer seatpost section, then by all means go with the new Bike Plus – it'll cost you a whopping $3,999.99 instead. Garmin Varia cycling Rearview: was $149.99, now $129.99 at AmazonThe Rearview system from Garmin pairs with either a Garmin bike computer or your smartphone to alert you audibly, and visually and physically with vibration with a compatible Garmin head unit, to traffic approaching you from behind up to 153 yards (140 meters) away.

Elite Arion Mag Parabolic Folding Rollers: was $379.99 now $284.95 at Competitive Cyclist

We really liked these rollers when we had them on review. The smart tech they incorporate is very similar to that of an indoor trainer – the Zwift (and other indoor app) compatibility, the climbing simulation and the power data (although ours did overread significantly). We've checked the other cycling retailers and 25% is the best discount right now and much better than Amazon. Stock levels look good too.

De'Longhi EC885M Dedica Arte Espresso Machine: was $399.95, now $279.95 at AmazonBig savings on this super stylish machine that has a narrow 6in footprint but a 15bar pressure so you can brew barista-quality beverages at home before or after your ride.

Sunny Health & Fitness indoor exercise bike: $299.99 $169.87 at Amazon

It's a basic option, but at this price the ideal way to keep you moving through the dark winter months when outdoors doesn't have the same appeal. It's all mechanical so no extra draw on electrics, but you might want to jump on a virtual spin class for motivation

Adidas The Velosamba Vegan Cycling Shoes: was $130 now $78 at Adidas

These were a most wanted pair of casual cycling kicks for a long time, so now to find them with an over half price saving is a seriously good deal. Our Adidas Velosamba reviewer really liked them, so act quick as they are going pretty fast.

Castelli Alpha RoS 2 jacket: was $392.60, now from $163.00 at Wiggle

Castelli's Alpha RoS 2 jacket is a great all-rounder that can handle the variety of temperatures you're likely to encounter during your winter rides. Thanks to the Gore-Tex fabric it's both wind and water proof but still breathable, with other neat features such as back vents and double-layer cuffs. It's little surprise that it's featured in our guide to the best winter cycling jackets. However, Castelli quality comes at price, making this detail especially attractive.

Rapha Women's Lightweight Trail Tank Top: was $70, now $20 at REI

As is often the case, though there are heavy discounts on Rapha clothing at REI most is not available in a full size run, like this. With a looser fit to a traditional jersey it's great for gravel rides or more relaxed days out.

Specialized S-Works EXOS Road Shoes: was $425.00, now $212.45 at Specialized US

Weighing just 150 grams, these S-Works are incredibly lightweight and our tester found they're very comfortable too thanks to the flexible upper. A Boa dial is used for fastening up these climbing shoes and stiffness wise these are pretty efficient too, rated only two lower on the stiffness index than the S-Works 7s.

Adidas The Parley Road Road Shoe Boa: was $200 now $80 at Adidas

The Parley road shoe features a breathable Primeknit sock alongside a BOA dial that enables a micro-adjusted fit and fiberglass reinforced midsole for efficient power transfer. This is now lower than the Cyber Monday price!

Adidas The Road Shoes: was $160 now $96 at Adidas

The only thing that really stopped the Adidas Road Shoes from getting top marks when we reviewed them was the price, and with this reduction it this pushes them right up the list. There are three colours on offer including black with white stripes - and this is the lowest price we've seen to date.

Oakley Jawbreaker Dual Lens Photochromic sunglasses: was $337.40, now $177.00 at Wiggle

Oakley's Jawbreaker is a design classic that's still relevant today. For a start it helped usher in the the' large lens with full coverage' trend that dominates today - just check out our guide to the best cycling sunglasses for proof, as well as read out review of the Jawbreaker. This deal is particularly special, thanks to the dual lens offering giving you a photochromic lens that adjusts to changing light conditions as well a clear lens for rides that require protection from bugs and debris rather than sunlight!

Fizik R3 Aria: was $337.40, now from $159.85 at Amazon

Benefitting from a full carbon outsole, the power transfer is much more direct, so you're not wasting your watts just twisting the shoe. Also featuring twin Boa dials, it's much easier to find a secure fit which doesn't pinch. This is a recent price drop so grab them if you can.

Fizik Tempo R5 Overcurve: was $149.99 from $60.01 at AmazonWe’ve been quite impressed with Fizik over the years for producing wallet friendly shoes that still offer great performance. While we haven’t reviewed these particular shoes, we have the Tempo R5 with the Powerstrap closure and the Tempo R4 Overcurve and so are confident in the quality of these shoes – and especially for the current price.

Adidas The Padded Cycling Bib Shorts: was $140 now $84 at Adidas

As with many of the Adidas range now, the Padded Cycling Shorts are constructed using 40 per cent recycled materials. There's men's and women's fits on offer, which include gender specific padded inserts. Both of which have a decent size range still on offer, but only the black with white stripes colourway. A further drop in price now sees them under the $100 mark.

dhb Classic Thermal Bib Tights: was $100, now $56.00 at Wiggle

In our guide to the best bib tights we highlight the virtues of a good pair of bibs and their central role in getting you through the winter months. Dhb's Classic bib tights are a great example, featuring brushed Roubaix fleece to keep you warm, a comfortable chamois pad with a relief channel for long miles and reflective details to help you stay seen in low-conditions. At retail they're a great value pair of tights but at this price they become a truly standout deal .

Adidas The Padded Cold.RDY Cycling Bib Tights: was $180 now $144 at Adidas

The men's and women's thermal, wind and water resistant bib tights are available in black and currently across a full range of sizes.

Adidas The Cold.RDY Long Sleeve Cycling Jersey Women's: was $150 now $120 at Adidas

The off-set zip makes this close fitting fleece jersey ideal to team with a water proof outer layer when the weather becomes foul. Sizes extra small to extra large are currently all in stock, but only in the pinkish colour, which is actually called Wonder Red, with white stripes.

Giro Empire SLX Road Cycling Shoes: was $404.80, now from $200.00 at Wiggle

Giro's Empire SLX road shoes are a premium product with a price tag to match. However, with a Christmas discount they become far more affordable so you can benefit from their featherweight one-piece upper, secure lace-up design and carbon sole without breaking the bank. This price has dropped by a further $46 recently.

Fizik Tempo Powerstrap R5 road shoes: was $103.99, now from $58.49 at Probikekit

Fizik's Tempo Powerstrap shoes use a clever velcro fastening system that wraps around the entire foot for improved fit and comfort. The R5 model benefits from a nylon composite outsole that's designed to be flexible as well as lightweight without compromising pedaling efficiency.

Gravel shoes not only work well on the trails but also make sense for winter road riding and commuting, when the tread can help you navigate wet and mucky roads. Fizik's x5 Terra shoes have aggressive traction lugs on the sole and use a BOA L6 dial for a micro-adjustable fit. A solid shoe and now at an improved price.

dhb Merino Long Sleeve Jersey: was $115, now $78.00 at Wiggle

Dhb's long sleeve merino jersey is a versatile piece of kit. Made from a 170gsm wool blend it helps regulates your temperatures across a range of seasons, keeping you warm when you need it but allowing you to breathe when things hot up. It features a full-length zipper, three rear pockets and some reflective details, making it well suited to long days in the saddle. A true three-season jersey!

Castelli Explore Velocissimo Bib Tights: was $144.30, now $70.00 at Wiggle

Made from a thermoflex fabric and featuring a Kiss Air 2 pad and mesh bib straps, the Castelli tights are warm, comfortable and breathable. Other notable features include zippers at the ankles and reflective details. A great pair of tights at any price but a genuine steal with this discount.

Specialized S-Works Prevail II Vent: was $250.00, now $124.95 at Specialized

The Vent is the cooling-focused version of Specialized's highly rated Prevail - the brand removed seven foam 'bridges' to create more effective ventilation channels. And a lightweight version of the MIPS safety system is used too, with perforations and a ripstop mesh for maximum breathability.

Santini Mago bib shorts: was $137.49, now from $59.49 at Probikekit

Christmas is an ideal time to start building your summer wardrobe, grabbing bargains for the year ahead. Santini's Mago bibs are great hot weather shorts, featuring lightweight and breathable materials as well a comfortable NAT chamois pad. Another neat detail are the two small pockets on each leg, perfect for gels and snacks.

Endura Hummvee Waterproof Pants: was $124.99, now $65 at Wiggle

We really liked the Endura Hummvee Pants when we had them on review. Yes, they're more water resistant than waterproof, but their durability and versatility for everything from city commuting to winter gravel riding was excellent. Castelli Sorpasso RoS Limited Edition Bib Tight: was $239.99, now $154.99 at Backcountry

We haven't reviewed the men's version of these tights, but we have tested the women's – so we can comment on the performance of the fabrics if not this exact cut and fit. They were toasty warm, as hinted at by the RoS moniker, they really do perform come rain or shine – they are waterproof enough to fend off a shower, but still breathable enough for hard efforts in the dry. There is currently availability in all sizes – but only in blue.

The Neo Blast is just want you want from a true winter glove. It's warm as well as being both wind and waterproof, without being bulky. Other handy features include a long cuff and silicone grippers on the finger and palm for improved control and bar feel, even in the cold and wet

Castelli Puro 3 long sleeve jersey: was $99.99, now from $79.00 at Wiggle

The Puro is designed to keep you warm and visible, which makes it a great fit for your winter riding. The thermal fabric helps to trap heat in but has breathable properties too, while the fluro colour and reflective details help you to stay seen in low light conditions. A further drop in price sees it under $80.

Lazer Sphere MIPS helmet: was $168.99, now from $122.49 at Probikekit

The Sphere boasts 18 vents to keep you cool in warm weather but also has the option of adding the Aeroshell during the colder months. It also features MIPS technology to protect against rotational forces during an accident and a handy sunglasses dock.

Castelli Finestre Jacket: $239.99, now from $106.99 at Jenson USA

Castelli's Finestre jacket uses Gore-Tex Infinium Windstopper fabric to provide plenty of warmth and protection but also breathability. The combination make it ideally suited to hard or sustained efforts in challenging weather conditions. Other highlights include a full-length zip, three rear pockets and a reflective panel on the rear - and you can the price reduction to this list too.

Specialized Deflect Reflect H20 Women's Jacket: $250 from $137.49 at Jenson USA

The Specialized Deflect Reflect H20 Women's Jacket is made with Deflect 2.75-layer woven fabric that's wind and water resistant , features fully taped seams but is still breathable. Low light conditions are a given at this time of year, making the jacket's hi-vis print a huge bonus - the reduction in price is yet another one.

Castelli Perfetto RoS 2 Limited Edition Jacket - Men's: was $279.99, now $194.99 at Competitive Cyclist

The Perfetto RoS jacket has a loyal fan base - including here at Cycling Weekly - and with good reason. The Gore-Tex Infinium fabric protects against the wind, rain and cold but the Perfetto still fits and feels much like a regular race-fit jersey. Castelli quality comes at a price but this deal allows you to improve your winter cycling wardrobe without breaking the bank.

Specialized SL Bib Short - Women's: $149.99 now $74.95 at Backcountry

A reliable pair of bibs make a huge difference to the enjoyment of a ride. Specialized's SL bib shorts use a HookUp magnetic closure for ease of entry and its own Performance Body Geometry 3D chamois for comfort over long distances. Elsewhere the fabric is designed to both breathe and stretch as well as providing protection against UV rays.

Gore men's Phantom Gore-Tex Infinium Jacket: $192.36 $75.89 at Amazon

Ideal for cool days and highly versatile there's the option of zipping off the sleeves of this windbreaker to convert it into a short sleeve jersey. It's water repellent too.

Gore Men's C5 Thermo Cycling bib tights: $170.00 now from $139 at Amazon

These should get you through the worst of winter on the bike thanks to the DWR (water repellent) protection, and Gore's own Windstopper fabric where it's need to keep the chill off.

Giro Cylinder II shoes: Was $159.99, now from $80.00 at Sigma Sports

The attributes of many mountain bike shoes make them ideally suited for gravel riding too - just like Giro's Cylinder II. Available in two colours, it features a rugged outsole with rubber lugs for better grip when hike-a-bike is necessary as well as reinforcements in both the heel and toe for improved durability. A secure and comfortable fit is achieved via a BOA dial and a velcro strap. At well under $100 it's a deal that saves you over 40% on the original price.

Castelli Squadra Stretch Jacket: Was $70.00, now from $33.00 at Sigma Sports

A wind jacket is a staple of any cycling wardrobe and Castelli's Squadra Stretch is a good example of why. Easily stored in a pocket or bike bag when not in use, the Squadra can be called on to provide some protection on chilly starts, long descents or whenever the wind gets up. It benefits from a full length zipper, a high collar and breathable mesh side panels as well as reflective details to make your more visible.

Kona Rove AL 650 SE Gravel Bike: $1300 from $510.00 at Chain Reaction

Kona's Rove AL 650 SE is ideally suited for gravel racing, bikepacking and commuting thanks to its lightweight but durable 6061 Aluminium frame that has mounts for fenders, a Shimano Claris 2x8-Speed drivetrain paired with reliable Tektro Mira mechanical disc brakes, and 650x47c WTB Venture Comp tires that provide plenty of comfort and grip over a variety of terrain.

Hyper E-Ride Electric Bike: was $698, now $398 at Walmart

If you're shopping on a tight budget, the $400 Hyper E-Ride is likely to tick a lot of the boxes. This urban e-bike comes with a 36V battery that can last for up to 20 miles of assisted riding. Walmart are only offering the blue colourway in their Christmas sale, with the black option still at full price.

Norco Scene VLT: was $3,599, now $1,799.94 at Jenson USA

The price of this urban e-bike has now been slashed by 50% with US retailers Jenson, sending it well under the $2,000 mark for the first time. This model is perfect for commuting and running errands around the city, with a step-thru frame and comfy saddle. Discounted by over $1,500, this is a great deal.

Cannondale Trail: was $260, now $207

Perfect for smaller kids getting into cycling this 12 inch bike has been put together with seat, rubbery grips and training wheels with 2 to 4 year olds in mind. The aluminium alloy frame helps the bike come in at 15 lbs. 9.6 oz. If this is too small check out the 16 inch version on sale.

Hyper Bicycle Space Jam: was $98, now $78 at Walmart

Taking it's livery from the hit Disney basketball fantasy Space Jam (the recent LeBron James version) the stabilizers on this make it ideal for kids to learn to ride on. With 16 inch wheels it's made for 4 to 8 years old.

Huffy Sea Star: was $78, now $58

With it's tassles and pink hearts this is squarely aimed at young girls but has all the quality build characteristics we've come to expect from Huffy. This one has 20 inch wheels for kids 5 to 9 years old but it is also on sale in 12 inch, 16 inch and 18 inch with smaller sizes coming in cheaper.

Cannondale Quick 20: was $435 now $369.69 at REI

The Quick 20 features Cannondale's SmartForm C3 alloy frame and is built up with seven gears, a twist shifter and 1.5in tyres on its 20in wheels. The grips, saddle, brake levers and cranks are all choosen with little riders in mind, it's a high quality choice that's worth scooping up when on a discount.

Continental Grand Prix 5000 tires: was $87.95, now from $39.58 at Competitive Cyclist

If there's one product that universally loved at Cycling Weekly then it's Continental's GP 5000 tires - and with good reason. They offer reliable puncture protection yet are still supple enough to provide great ride quality, while the compound is both grippy and fast rolling. Continental Grand Prix 5000 tire: Was $58.00, now from $38.00 at Sigma Sports

Continental's GP 5000 clincher features a Black Chili compound with a micro profile structure on the tire's shoulder to promote great grip and cornering alongside tear-resistant fibers that add up to a durable tire with bags of puncture protection.

Shimano Ultegra PD-R8000 Pedals: $199.99 now $113.40 at AmazonShimano Ultegra is the go to for many amateur racers and performance oriented cyclists. With an extremely high build quality, albeit slightly heavier than the range topping Dura-Ace components, Ultegra delivers extremely good performance for the price. For this, we gave these pedals a full five stars in our review.

Scicon Road AeroComfort Triathlon 3.0 TSA Bike Travel Bag: was $812.99, now $569.00 at ProBikeKit

We were mightily impressed by this bike bag when we had it on review – so much so that it's top of our best bike bags and boxes buyer's guide for 2022. The high price was always a bit of a sticking point, but now that's mostly answered with $313 off the list price. We've cross referenced with Amazon, and this does look like the cheapest this box has been in a few years – so now really is a good time to take the plunge.

Muc Off No Puncture Hassle - 1L: was $39.99 now $30.37 at Amazon

Sealing holes up to 6mm, Muc Off's tubeless sealant really impressed us and was the runner-up in our tubeless sealant screwdriver test, where we put six popular brands to the test with the higher pressures of road tyres. It's rated for low temperatures and lasts up to six months. We called it an affordable option at full price and so on this great discount it certainly comes highly recommended.

Muc-Off Wet Lube Chain Lubricant: was $7.99 now $5.99 at Amazon

At the time it was a cheaper option, and it showed in the the re-route software and the battery life. Faulty mounts were an issue at the time, but hopefully that's since been resolved.

As the name suggests, this lube is much better suited for dry weather as it doesn't pick up dust like wet lubes tend to do. On the flipside, it can be washed off with water - so not ideal for rainy rides!

On-Guard 8001 Brute: £41.99 £26.99 at AmazonThe independent lock testing company, Sold Secure, recently added a “Diamond” rating to give better credit to those previously Gold rated locks that far exceed the already stringent testing requirements. Even at full price, this is a great value lock that would be well worth upgrading to, even though the bike mount is a little bulky.

I’ve been hooked on bikes ever since the age of 12 and my first lap of the Hillingdon Cycle Circuit in the bright yellow kit of the Hillingdon Slipstreamers. For a time, my cycling life centred around racing road and track.

But that’s since broadened to include multiday two-wheeled, one-sleeping-bag adventures over whatever terrain I happen to meet - with a two-week bikepacking trip from Budapest into the mountains of Slovakia being just the latest.

I still enjoy lining up on a start line, though, racing the British Gravel Championships and finding myself on the podium at the enduro-style gravel event, Gritfest in 2022.
